[Minato's sickened too beyond seeing the possessions of one of his friends- the blood, the trinkets...he had heard before about the sacrifices, but to see it being done even now was disgusting and he swallows, trying to contain his revulsion.]
I've heard of sacrifices before, but this is the first time I've seen an altar. [He's quiet, sticking to the facts as much as possible to avoid stirring his emotions.] ...It might have something to do with the spirits.
[Sacrifices, she has not really heard of them. Perhaps vaguely, but somehow she's been fortunate (unfortunate?) enough to not see the truth up close. Clearly she needs to read the manual in the Sanctuary much more often to see if anything new comes up.
The spirits...that does make sense. Murder, they said.]
They did say something about that, didn't they. Murderer. [All of the spirits that died could've been because of this place. But she grits her teeth. With Minato like this, she doesn't want to say that the spirit were people they knew.]
Murderer... [They're still in the underground caves and the the word's echoes sound rather like a fading accusation. Minato pauses, raising a hand to his chin as they continue to walk almost as if he's had some other kind of insight.]
I don't think that the ghosts we saw before this are related to what we saw around the altar. There were too many of them, and I've heard that CERES made a contract with the natives, but they didn't agree to a colony like Cerealia being made.
[The musty air's not doing a good job of making their trek any more pleasant though, and he draws in a deep breath before continuing on.] Where are we, anyway? I saw an explosion coming from the dark parts of the city...could all of us have been brought here?
[It's a good thing Minato is here, piecing the information together. It does make it a little bit more clearer. But knowing there are more mysteries to solve just makes it messier.]
I see, so if it is not related to that, then perhaps this is all CERES' doing. [If, it is within colony.]
I was wondering myself. It's not anywhere we know, and I don't think it's ViViD. [No health bars or anything.] But that sounds likely. We could've been brought here similarly to how we were drawn out into the jungles. Just, by some unknown?
Some unknown, huh... [Minato's gotten disturbingly used to having his bloody mask hovering around him, glancing off-offhandedly at it before he looks back at Vietnam.
...was it just him, or did the mask seem more hollow than usual?]
Whoever brought us here might have something to do with these masks, if that's true. I don't think we'll find any answers here, though... [There's a hint of frustration in the way Minato frowns when he says that. Every answer they got only seemed to lead to more questions, and this altar certainly did nothing to quell his nerves in spite of his surface calm.] Let's look for everyone else first, someone might know more about this.
[It's almost like a creepy mask parade. She hasn't even worn hers enough to be affected; a feathery mask. But what was that?]
Yes. If so, then this was planned, but we don't know by who, and how much of it. [Maybe it was CERES, or someone else, putting their horse in the race by uncovering else is under this colony.
She nods in agreement, moving to follow him. Also so that if need be, she can remind him not to look back at what was by the altar.] A good idea. They may also have found clues that could lead to a way out.
It doesn't seem to be CERES at least. [That should be a relief, but Minato's flat words are enough of an indication that he still remembers what happened the last time people got taken away to an unknown place.
It's also why he's picking up his pace slightly, footsteps clearly audible across the cave system.]
We'll need to find our way out quickly if this is anything like the last time we were taken from the city...doesn't seem pleasant either way.
